Privacy Policy

Better Weather Australia is designed to work without an account and without collecting personal information.

Short version: We don't ask for your name or email. There are no accounts, no ads, and no advertising or tracking SDKs. Your saved locations and settings stay on your device. The only information that leaves your device is what's needed to fetch your forecast, deliver notifications you've asked for, and fix crashes.

Data Collection

Better Weather Australia does not ask for or collect your name, email address, or any account details. We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we never sell or share your information for advertising.

Data Stored on Your Device

Your saved locations and app preferences are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.

Location

If you allow location access, your device's location is used to find your nearest forecast location and to show where you are on the radar map. To find that nearest location, your approximate coordinates are sent to our weather server. They are not linked to you or used for any other purpose.

Like most web servers, ours keeps standard request logs (which can include your IP address and the location being looked up) for up to 14 days to keep the service running and secure. They are then deleted automatically.

Forecast Notifications

If you turn on forecast notifications, an anonymous device token provided by Apple is stored on our server, along with the location, delivery time, and units you chose, solely to deliver those notifications. This token cannot be used to identify you personally. Turning the notification off removes it, and you can disable notifications at any time in your device Settings.

Purchases

Premium subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. The app checks your subscription status with Apple to unlock Premium features.

Crash Reports

If the app crashes, an anonymous crash report (such as the device model, operating system version, and what the app was doing) is sent to a crash reporting service so we can fix the problem. Crash reports do not include your name, email, or contact details.

Third-Party Services

Weather data is retrieved from third-party weather data providers, including data from the Bureau of Meteorology. Some short-range rain forecasts are provided by Apple Weather, which is subject to Apple's privacy policy. We do not use any third-party advertising networks or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the app does not collect personal information from anyone, it is suitable for users of all ages.

Contact
